Autograph – Major General Friedrich Count von der Schulenburg (1865–1939) – handwritten and signed letter to a major, 1926.
Official letterhead (21 x 15 cm) bearing the title "Reichstag Member" (folded in the center, slightly worn at the edges); dated "Berlin 25. III 1926" at the top right; handwritten text in black ink: "Can you not request the funds for the 153 former paymasters [...] in the supplementary budget? [...] Best regards. Schulenburg." On the reverse side, a calculation drawn up in copying pencil. Friedrich Count von der Schulenburg was discharged from active service as a Major General in 1920 because he did not wish to serve a republic. In 1924, he was elected to the Reichstag representing the DNVP, and in 1931 he switched to the NSDAP. As an SA-Oberführer, he worked closely with Ernst Röhm until the latter's assassination, subsequently transferring to the SS. He became a General of the Cavalry in 1938 and, shortly before his death, attained the rank of SS-Obergruppenführer. His decorations include, among others, the *Pour le Mérite* with Oak Leaves (1917 and 1918), the Commander's Cross with Swords of the Royal House Order of Hohenzollern (1917), the Order of the Red Eagle (2nd Class with Swords, Oak Leaves, and Crown), and the Golden Party Badge of the NSDAP (1938).
