Service saber hanger from the Duchy of Saxe-Altenburg,
Forest belt buckle with belt, circa 1871
with three inventory stamps on the inside, one on the brown leather tongue and two on the belt itself, in good condition. Two fire-gilt lion's head belt loops for the saber, very well preserved. Belt made of soft green leather, yellow overlay with fine silver braid. Belt with adjustable eyelets, belt length approximately 1.10 m.
In the first volume of the "Couture Maker's Encyclopedia," it is described as follows: "Belt made of two-inch-wide gold braid...; furthermore, a yellow buckle with the ducal Saxon coat of arms in silver between two silver oak branches forming a circle."
