FROM A Mk IX COURSE SETTING BOMBSIGHT COMPASS, The Type D bombsight compass is housed in the compass case and the filler plug boss serves as a receptacle by inserting into the hole in the case bottom. The magnet system consists of two cobalt steel magnets with a circular cross-section, which are arranged in the magnet frame parallel to each other and symmetrically around the pivot point. The magnetic frame also carries the four damper threads. Compass is functional.
