Wehrmacht balloon theodolite with accompanying book, papers and transport box
Theodolite stamped with manufacturer Otto Fennel and Sons, Kassel and the device number 31656 according to Hölzer Sprenger and the year 1941.
Almost complete Wehrmacht balloon theodolite including accessories and transport box, this with the WaA stamp on the top, as well as the manufacturer Otto Fennel Sons, Geographical Instruments Kassel and the serial number. The serial number is the same on all parts of the theodolite.
In addition, there is the original accompanying book, matching numbers, delivery date May 24, 1941, Army Equipment Office Spandau with a note of usability.
Apart from small repaired paint chips on the lens tube, condition 1-. Wooden box open, key not present, protective cover made of canvas is present, crosshair lighting and batteries are missing.
Area of application of balloon theodolite:
Theodolite specially designed for aerological ascents and used to track the flight path of balloons. The current location of the balloon is usually determined every minute by reading the azimuth and the elevation angle. The direction and speed of the wind at altitude are determined from the balloon's drift.
