Russia - Soviet Union World War II: Order of Glory, 3rd Class
Material: Silver, partially enameled in the center. Award number "373827" on ribbon bar.
The Order of Glory was a military decoration of the Soviet Union, established on November 8, 1943, by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet. It was awarded to soldiers and non-commissioned officers of the Red Army, as well as lieutenants of the Air Force, for gallantry in the face of the enemy. All awards are individually numbered on the reverse.
Most awards of the Order of Glory were made for gallantry in combat during World War II (or the Great Patriotic War). There are documented cases in which the lowest class of the order—the third class—was awarded for Soviet military operations after the war. These awards include those for Soviet operations in support of the Korean War from 1950 to 1953, and for the Soviet military intervention in Hungary in the autumn of 1956. A small number of the Order of Glory, Third Class, were also awarded in connection with armed border conflicts with the People's Republic of China in 1969.
