Book: The Service Daggers and Edged Weapons of the NPEA and the Hitler Youth
A reference book for identifying the service daggers and edged weapons of the NPEA and the Hitler Youth.
The comprehensive reference work for identifying historical edged weapons
This meticulously designed specialist book is the definitive German-language reference work on the service daggers and edged weapons of the NPEA (Napola) and the Hitler Youth. Author Ralf Siegert addresses the subject in a limited and numbered volume with exceptional depth of detail and scholarly rigor.
The first part deals with the daggers of the National Political Education Institutes. After a thorough introduction to the history of the Napola, classifications, maker's marks, and accessories such as scabbards, carrying cases, and belts are explained in detail. The daggers are then presented—organized by individual schools—with hundreds of brilliant, mostly full-page color photographs. Numerous previously unpublished historical photographs and facsimile reproductions of original documents, including testimonies and internal correspondence, impressively complement the presentation.
The second part is dedicated to the daggers and scout knives of the Hitler Youth. Badges, shoulder boards, arm plates, leadership cords, flags, and pennants are documented in color. Here, too, a special focus is placed on accessories and variations, which are described and illustrated in detail. Supplementary chapters on foreign daggers, copies, semi-original pieces, and so-called fantasy products round out the work.
An exceptionally comprehensive and precise reference work—ideal for collectors, historians, and specialists. This book is already considered the new standard German-language work for identifying historical edged weapons of the Nazi youth organizations.
